7 IRONS IN 7 DAYS – JOIN IN!

Jason Roberts is not your normal triathlete. Sure he plans to swim 2.4 miles, cycle 112 miles and run 26.2 miles in one day. Ironman distance. All good so far. The amazing bit about about Jason’s plan is he is going to do it EVERY day, for seven days.

The Elivar Featured Athlete will be starting at Land’s End on the 17th of August, and plans to complete his epic challenge 7 days later in John O’Groats – certainly the most unusual way to do LEJOG!

Preparations are going well despite a minor leg niggle after a 100k duathlon three weeks ago. A rest week and a return to action at the Ashington Sprint over the May Bank Holiday sees the start of a period of increasing training volumes through May, June and July.

Jason plans to do 3 half-Irons in May and 2 Irons back-to-back in early June. Sleep deprivation training is also on the cards so Jason can experience running, swimming and cycling when his body really would like to just stop and go to bed!

There is still plenty to do on the organisation side – accommodation is still to be finalised. If anyone spare Winnebago or motor home for a week Jason would love to hear from you!

VOLUNTEERS

Jason is looking for volunteers to travel some of the distance with him. You don’t need to do the full distance of any leg – cycle or run with Jason for as long or as little as you like. Jason would love some company! Sign up at the event facebook page for more details HERE

Did you know that Nicotinamide Mononucleotide (NMN), the star ingredient in numerous anti-aging supplements, also moonlights in several foods you might already enjoy? It's true! NMN is a vital precursor to NAD+, a molecule crucial to many biological processes, like cell growth, DNA repair, and metabolism. Add 5 Years to Your Life: How Endurance and Outdoor Sports Boost Longevity

May 03, 2023

In the quest for a longer, healthier life, recent studies have found an encouraging connection between endurance and outdoor sports and longevity. One of these studies, conducted by the International Longevity Centre UK, analysed Commonwealth Games competitor records dating back to 1930. The study revealed that top-level athletes can live up to five years longer than the general population, with men's longevity boosted most by 24% - 29% in case of aquatic, track and indoor sports, which translates to between 4.5 and 5.3 extra years of life. Women experienced a 22% increase in longevity across all sports categories equating to 3.9 extra years of life.
