Katerina made a bright start to her triathlon career, finishing strongly at the Greek National Championships in her first ever event at the age of 26, but shortly thereafter put triathlon on hold to pursue a Master’s degree, a banking career, marriage and children. Katerina only rediscovered triathlon ten years later, when she watched her brother, Alex, cross the finish line at Challenge Roth. Since then, she has gradually returned to training and ultimately competing in events again in 2013, culminating with representing Greece at the ITU World Triathlon Championships.
Since then she has been focusing on racing middle distance triathlon and has discovered a passion for ultra running. But her greatest challenge (and success) has been to balance the intense demands of training with the needs of her family and the hard work of launching racecheck with her brother.
This Year
In February 2017, Katerina is racing Pilgrims Challenge Ultra 53km and then the Highland Fling Ultra in Scotland 83km in April 2017. In June she will be racing for Greece in the ETU AG Middle Distance Championships in Denmark and hopes to race Ironman 70.3 Lanzarote in September. Her season will probably end with the Beacons Ultra 73km in November 2017.
